Surprise 40th Birthday caricatures!

This surprise 40th birthday party was so fabulous...the wife had everyone standing outside their home, cheering when the husband came home from golfing!

A food truck was ready and waiting!
And so was the caricature artist. I was set up in the family room, in view of the tv---which was tuned to the Phillies 2024 Opening day game.....deja vu, I was drawing there exactly twenty years ago!
And so here's where I was twenty years later: ( even on very similar chairs!
Here's a few of the guests:

Finally, here are the happy birthday boy and his wife. After receiving his caricature
he was roasted by his wife and some others while I was packing up. Hilarious!
Thanks for having me!

1st birthday baby caricature! in a Mercedes!

And it's not caricatures (plural) because I was so busy drawing dozens of little-kid guests, that I only got a few photos of the birthday girl at her pastel-Disneyfied party. Her mom did a great job with sourcing beautiful cookies, balloons, a face painter, a pink bounce house and my caricatures (which came via The Bash)!

When I saw the miniature Mercedes right on front of me of course I had to draw Baby Girl in it!

Thank you for having me and happy 1st birthday Iyla!

Gala Fundraiser Caricatures in the Crystal Tea Room

I hadn't been in this building since I was a child in the 1970's.....when my class went to see the Christmas display here after visiting the Franklin Institute.

And I had never been to its flagship restaurant on the 9th floor...til Thursday, when I arrived to draw caricatures at a 1000-guest gala fundraiser event. The law firm of Zarwin Baum was raising funds for Philabundance at a huge March Madness cocktail party, and it was so much fun!

Spot the artist!!

They certainly had my favorite Philly vice for sustenance!!
Thank you for having me!

Swarthmore College Silhouettes

This was a VERY special silhouette event, as the McCabe Library at Swarthmore College brought out some antique 18th-century Quaker silhouettes from their Special Collections to share with students and faculty. This was to fit into the theme of "Body Liberation" week on campus. Having this artist there to cut live silhouettes was the icing on their cake!

I will be going back in the summer to visit, so I can really spend some time looking at some of these precious works of art... and some very scholarly books on the subject (just couldn't do so on this day, as I was non-stop busy!)

Here are some of the ones I cut for some very delighted subjects:
(you can click on them to see them at a larger size)

These two silhouettes are of the same person, one from kindergarten and one from 2024!
Thank you for having me! It was all my pleasure!
